Known Issues

Known Issues for Windows versions of Interact 2.3 and older, and Capture 2.3 and older software:

  1. You may not be able to access eBeam System Preference settings in Control Panel > eBeam System Preferences. Please access eBeam System Preference settings by choosing one of these three methods:
    • select Options from the Desktop Tools palette;
    • right click on any tool in the Desktop Tools/Scrapbook Tools palettes then select Options.
    • Interact users may right click on the eBeam Interact icon in the systray and then select Options.

  2. You may be able to receive an error message that the eBeam service does not start on Windows 2000. Please contact Technical Support if you experience this problem.

  3. Make sure the Language for Non-Unicode Programs is set to the language in which you wish to install eBeam software. The setting can be found in Control Panel > Regional and Language Options.

  4. For Vista users:
    • Currently, the eBeam Interactive Stylus cannot be used in User Account Control prompts. If you have User Account Control (UAC) enabled, please use your mouse to respond to messages from UAC, instead of the eBeam Interactive Stylus.  Also note that some UAC prompts require a user name and password to be entered. Currently, neither the on-screen keyboard nor RitePen handwriting recognition can be used to enter text in UAC.
    • Drag-drop of PPT, PPTX and JPEG files will not work if you launch Interact directly from Installer. You can fix this problem by launching Interact from Desktop icon and then drag-drop files
    • Auto-launch will not work – please open Microsoft Explorer and navigate to the CD/DVD drive. Locate setup.exe file and double click it to launch an Installer.
    • ritePen versions 2.0.22 and 2.5 will not work with Interact 1.3.1 and new Interact versions on Windows Vista and Windows 7. Please use our Technical Support Request Form to obtain a link to download a new version of ritePen software. Put the serial number, located on the back of your receiver, on the technical support request.

  5.  For eBeam Focus Document Camera users:
    • The eBeam Focus Document Camera is supported only on Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems.
    • The eBeam Focus Document Camera may not work properly when connected to a netbook.  This is due to the USB port not providing sufficient power to connect to the device.
  6. For eBeam Inscribe users:
    • You will need to install the driver (USB Tablet Manager Driver v3.40) included on a separate CD disc in your eBeam Inscribe kit.
    • If you notice that after installing the drivers, the eBeam Inscribe is not working; close and re-launch the eBeam Interact software.
    • If you are experiencing issues with pairing the tablet, try the following steps:
      1. Press the power button at least 3 seconds to power up the Wireless Tablet.
      2. Press the binding button on the back side of the Tablet and the binding button of the receiver dongle at the same time.  The LCD on the Tablet and the blue LED on the receiver dongle will both blink.
      3. Check if the information on the LCD indicator is displayed correctly.  The number on the LCD will change from 000 to 001.
