support | anomolies

The following is an alphabetical listing of anomolies and bugs reported against Version 1.1 of the eBeam software.

eBeam mouse & eBeam Software

Symptom: Launching eBeam mouse and then launching the eBeam application software an error message appears indicating that eBeam could not be found. However, the Beam mouse works fine.

Solution:
When the eBeam mouse is launched, it takes control of the eBeam hardware. When the eBeam application is then launched, the error message is simply reporting that it doesn't have control of the hardware. Only one eBeam application can have control of the hardware at a time.

Erratic Data Capture

Symptom: Stroke data or erroneous lines appear in the eBeam application.

Solution:
The eBeam hardware is designed to detect and capture only one signal from a sleeve or eraser at a time. Attempting to write with two markers at once, will produce the above symptoms.

Hosting a Meeting

Symptom: Attempting to host a meeting from "This PC" produces the error message "Cannot start server! Port 80 is already in use!"

Solution:
Web serving programs such as PWS (Personal Web Server), IIS (Internet Information Server), Apache, etc. broadcast web sites and pages using port 80. This is also the port that broadcasts the eBeam information. To host a meeting, please stop service on any Web Server applications running.

Joining or Hosting a Meeting

Symptom: Unable to Join or Host a meeting through the eBeam application using a Proxy Server.

Solution:
The Proxy Server information must be configured into eBeam. Get the address and port for the Proxy Server. Select Edit>Setup in the eBeam application and enter the Proxy Server configuration.

Mac Netscape Symptom: Unable to Join a meeting.

Solution:
This anomaly is under investigation and registered users will be notified when a patch is released.
NetMeeting

Symptom: When using eBeam and NetMeeting, sometimes the color in the NetMeeting virtual whiteboard is different than the color of the pen selected.

Solution:
This anomaly is under investigation and registered users will be notified when a patch is released.

Printing

Symptom: The highlighted sections of an eBeam whiteboard did not print correctly.

Solution:
Some printers have difficulty printing the Highlighter function. This anomaly is under investigation and registered users will be notified when a patch is released.
