Luidia and Encyclopaedia Britannica Partner to Bring New Content to Interactive Whiteboards

— eBeam Edge for Education Systems Offer Integrated Access to World-Class Encyclopaedia Britannica Reference Materials — 

San Carlos, CA and Chicago – January 12, 2010 – Luidia, Inc. and Encyclopaedia Britannica, Inc. today announced they have reached an agreement to provide users of Luidia’s award-winning eBeam® interactive whiteboard systems with access to a wide variety of Encyclopaedia Britannica content for students and educators. eBeam is the first interactive whiteboard solution to integrate Britannica’s high-quality, comprehensive reference materials. The partnership will also provide expansive content for eBeam users – including math, language arts, social studies and much more.

eBeam Edge for Education systems will now be integrated with the brand new 2011 Encyclopaedia Britannica Ultimate Reference Suite DVD, which includes:  

  • Three age-appropriate Britannica encyclopedias 
  • Britannica Biographies of world leaders
  • Britannica Classics (articles from famous Britannica contributors)
  • The Britannica BrainStormer interactive tool for discovering new ideas and relationships between topics 
  • Britannica Book of the Year (a review of annual events)
  • World Atlas including more than 2,600 maps
  • Merriam-Webster® Collegiate and Student Dictionaries, Thesauruses and Spanish-English Translation Dictionary
  •  A huge selection of rich multimedia, including 31,000 image, audio and video files.

In addition, eBeam Edge for Education users will receive a complimentary three-month trial of Britannica Online, providing access to 166,000 trusted sites selected by Britannica editors, plus links to thousands of videos and magazines for a wealth of additional information. 

Teachers will also be able to launch Britannica content directly from the eBeam Gallery, within Luidia’s Scrapbook™ multimedia software, providing access to a wide range of Britannica interactive lesson materials in a new, easy to use format.

The Encyclopaedia Britannica Ultimate Reference Suite DVD will be available in April. Those who purchase an eBeam for Education system before the April release date will be able to receive the DVD when it is released.
