LUIDIA LAUNCHES NEW TECHNOLOGY COMPANY ESTABLISHES HEADQUARTERS IN SAN CARLOS, CALIF.

Spin-off of Electronics for Imaging is the
Leading Provider of “Idea Capturing” Technologies

SAN CARLOS, Calif. – September 10, 2003 – Luidia Incorporated, previously a division of Electronics for Imaging (EFI) and makers of the first portable whiteboard solution for capturing ideas as they are created, was officially launched today as an incorporated company with new headquarters here. Luidia is the leading global provider of innovative idea-capturing systems for the education, distance learning, conferencing, audio/visual, and office products markets.

With its exclusive Idea Capturing TechnologyTM, which combines ultrasound, infrared, and wireless technologies with powerful software, Luidia develops products designed to convert existing analog communication tools into digital workspaces. These products include the award-winning, portable eBeam® System line, which work with existing whiteboards and other writing surfaces to capture meeting notes, diagrams and drawings in real time.

Luidia is also a leading provider of easy-to-use, cost-effective collaboration and productivity solutions for industry leaders – including 3M, GBC/Quartet, Hitachi, edding, and Uchida – who incorporate Luidia’s technology into compelling, new interactive presentation and display products.

“Launching a new company with established technologies and partnerships in place is a unique opportunity,” said Rafi Holtzman, CEO of Luidia, and creator of the original eBeam System. “EFI provided an excellent base for starting the eBeam business, and we look forward to continuing our commitment to innovation, creativity, and teamwork as we expand our product offerings.”

As part of an aggressive plan, Luidia will develop new products based on its Idea Capturing Technology and will be launching this month a wireless Bluetooth® version of its award-winning eBeam System. eBeam Wireless will allow Bluetooth enabled PC and Macintosh computers, as well as Palm and PocketPC PDAs, to capture data from any standard whiteboard.

"eBeam technology is uniquely suited for adoption by a variety of high-growth markets," said Barry Schiffman, Senior Partner of Globespan Capital Partners. "Luidia's team has shown extraordinary agility in providing solutions for a wide variety of OEM partners in the U.S., Europe and Asia. Luidia continues to expand its portfolio of partners by delivering innovative, cost-effective solutions in an extremely short development cycle."

Said Ken Lane, Sr. Brand Manager of GBC’s Commercial and Consumer Group: "Luidia provides a critical, interactive technology for Quartet’s IdeaShare digital whiteboard product line. We look forward to working with Luidia to bring new innovations to the market in the future."

About eBeam
The award-winning eBeam systems are interactive whiteboard appliances that work with existing dry-erase boards, flipcharts and other writing surfaces to digitally capture meeting notes and diagrams as they are created. Used with digital projection, eBeam systems can create presentation size interactive touch-screens with TabletPC like pen-input environments. Unlike traditional electronic whiteboards and copyboards, the eBeam systems are mobile, easy to install, and web-enabled. Consisting of a small receiver, pen sleeves, standard dry-erase markers, and an eraser - eBeam systems can be carried in a laptop case and are installed in minutes.
