Powerful Distance Learning Technology
Expands Capabilities for Schools and Businesses with
its Support for Mac OS X and QuickTime
Foster City, CA - June 6, 2002 - Electronics
For Imaging, Inc. (NASDAQ: EFII), the world leader
in software and hardware imaging solutions for network
printing, today announced the availability of its
award-winning eBeam® system for Mac® OS X.
Millions of businesses and schools can now take full
advantage of eBeam's unique, powerful collaboration
tools for real-time distance learning.
eBeam System 3 is the smallest, lightest and most
efficient digital whiteboard solution on the market.
The eBeam system captures meeting notes and diagrams
as they are created and broadcasts them over the Internet
or local intranet in real-time.
"eBeam takes advantage of Mac OS X's power and
elegance to help users communicate and collaborate
effectively and intuitively," says Rafi Holtzman,
general manager, eBeam. "Corporate teams can
now brainstorm ideas with colleagues in remote offices,
and instructors can save whiteboard notes as QuickTime
movies so that students can replay lectures at home."
"The increasing adoption of Mac OS X within businesses
and schools along with the growing number of applications
available provides a strong business proposition for
developers," said Ron Okamoto, Apple's vice president
of Worldwide Developer Relations. "We're delighted
to see eBeam leverage Mac OS X and QuickTime and provide
Mac customers a powerful and flexible whiteboard solution."
eBeam Software v.2.1 for Mac OS X includes a wide
range of features to capture, edit, and share whiteboard
content. Users can save their notes in a variety of
file formats or export to QuickTime or Digital Video
to create a "movie" of brainstorming sessions
or class notes. The software also allows users to
host meetings so that team members or students in
remote locations can view the whiteboard data in real-time.
In addition to whiteboard content, meeting participants
can share images and documents by dragging and dropping
TIFF or JPEG files into the application window. The
"Projector Mode" feature turns the whiteboard
into a virtual touchscreen when a digital projector
is connected to the meeting. The software also supports
synchronization of eBeam meeting files saved on Palm
OS® devices.
Availability
eBeam Software v.2.1 for Mac OS X is currently available
for free download at www.luidia.com/downloads/.
French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Japanese versions

PC. Unlike traditional electronic whiteboards and
copyboards, the eBeam hardware is portable, easy to

pens, and an eraser - can be carried in a laptop case
