April 22nd, 2002 -- Electronics For Imaging, Inc.
(EFI®) (NASDAQ: EFII), the world leader in providing
software and hardware imaging solutions for network
printing, will be exhibiting eBeam System 3,
the world's smallest, lightest and most efficient
internet classroom appliance, at the forthcoming World
Education Market exhibition in Lisbon, Portugal from
21-24 May.
The award-winning eBeam System is a
digital whiteboard appliance that works with existing
whiteboards and other writing surfaces to capture
lecture notes and diagrams in real time. Remote learning
is made easier as information can be viewed, saved,
edited and shared across a network or the Internet
using eBeam software and a Web browser and printed
using a PC or Mac.
Unlike traditional electronic whiteboards
and copyboards, the eBeam device is portable, easy
to install, and Web-enabled. The entire system - consisting
of palm-sized receivers, electronic pen sleeves, standard
dry-erase pens, and an eraser - can be carried in
a laptop case and installed in minutes.
The portable, pocket-sized eBeam System
3 operates via a single-receiver design that can be
placed in any corner of the whiteboard, making classroom
discussions and presentations more effective and interactive.
A flexible multi-purpose eBeam bracket allows users
to permanently attach the system on the default whiteboard
of their choice. eBeam will be demonstrated in Hall
2, Stand No. 111211.
EFI will also feature an eBeam System
1, designed to capture hand written notes and drawings
on permanently installed whiteboards of up to 8ft
(2.40m) wide and 5ft (1.50m) tall.
Both Systems demonstrate the product's
advantages in presenting and receiving information,
as well as its ability to share information across
a network or the Internet.
A live demonstration of eBeam System 3 will show the
product's capability of annotating PowerPoint presentations
and presenting applications through an eBeam mouse.
In conjunction with a projector, this allows users
to turn a whiteboard into an interactive mouse pad
and an eBeam pen into a fully functional mouse - thereby
controlling a computer from a whiteboard.
Rafi Holtzman, EFI's General Manager
for eBeam says, "eBeam represents a new level
of e-learning by increasing communication and group
participation in the classroom. With tutorial or lecture
notes saved electronically, students are able to devote
more time to listening and inter-acting and as a result
are able to gain more information and enhance their
learning experience."
The 3rd World Education Market International
Exhibition (WEM) and Conference Programme will be
held in the Lisboa Congress Centre from 21-24 May
2002 and is the world's only professional event dedicated
to the international business of education, training
and lifelong learning.
WEM is an annual marketplace, showcasing
educational resources for all levels and ages of learners,
for use in the classroom, the workplace or the home,
and available on a full range of technologies, from
satellites to books and from television to the Internet.
