Adds Increased Functionality and Ease of Use
Foster
City, Calif. - May 25, 2000 - Electronics For Imaging,
Inc. (EFI) (NASDAQ: EFII), the world leader in enabling
networked printing solutions, announced the introduction
of a new version of eBeam™ software that features
several new and user-friendly capabilities, including
the new eBeam mouse application software.
eBeam, a revolutionary Internet office appliance, captures
meeting notes and diagrams as they are created on existing
whiteboards and broadcasts them over the Internet or corporate
intranet in real time. Unlike traditional electronic whiteboards
and copyboards, the eBeam marker system is portable, easy
to install, and Web-enabled. With these advantages, eBeam
enhances teamwork, reduces travel costs, and makes business
meetings more effective - immediately.
The new version of eBeam adds innovative features that
make it even easier and faster to use. eBeam users can
now host Internet and Intranet meetings in a more simplified
manner through the 'File' menu. For added convenience,
users can save the location of frequently-used servers
for faster set up of meetings, use the "send as e-mail"
function (sends whiteboard content in file format of choice)
and the "save as" function (saves whiteboard content in
file format of choice). Version 1.1 also offers the ability
to copy and paste selected portions of the drawing area
for increased ease-of-use. In addition to allowing users
to host meetings from within the eBeam application, Version
1.1 also offers support for native eBeam connection with
Microsoft NetMeeting.
In addition, this version supports on-line enhanced software
support with regularly updated HTML help files; localization
in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Japanese;
unlimited undo and redo; in/out zoom levels in multiple
increments, and full screen view option.
Also shipping is eBeam's new mouse application software.
This new software gives people the ability to use the
eBeam pen as a mouse when interacting with projected computer
applications. "The eBeam mouse allows presenters to interact
more naturally with their slides and other data," said
Rafi Holtzman, General Manager for eBeam. "Users simply
tap the pen on the whiteboard to move to the next slide
or open an application. Combined together, the eBeam mouse
with version 1.1 software and your data projector, transforms
a physical whiteboard into a truly digital workspace."
The eBeam mouse application features instant calibration
of projected area, compensation for trapezoidal image
distortion, right-click support, and double-click support.
The eBeam mouse application works with both LCD projectors
and rear-projection systems.
Availability
eBeam version 1.1 and eBeam mouse software are now shipping.
Current eBeam users can download the new software for
free at www.luidia.com, where they can also
register to receive a free stylus insert to use with the
eBeam mouse application.
